Dear Friends across America,
Blessings to all of you!!
I wanted to inform you of several things coming up.
1 -Joshua' 21st birthday is Sunday, April 1. You can send him an email at jareed_amt@hotmail.com It would be a real blessing for him to receive birthday greetings from you. It will be a day he will never forget as he is spending his 21st birthday in Iraq. If you have time, encourage him and remind him of who your are, or tell a favorite story you remember about him.
I received an email from him that he is scheduled for a 2 week leave from Iraq to come home and will leave on April 18. That will put him in Spokane by the weekend and give him about 10 days home. It will be joy indeed to see him. The last time was last July about a week before his deployment on July 22.
If you'd like to send a card, his address is:
Spec Joshua Reed
D Company 1-82
ARB 25 CABFOB
Speicher APO AE 09393
Cards take about 10-14 days, or you can send it to him % my address at the top of the email. All correspondence to me should be sent to me at that address as well.
I will never forget that day nearly 21 years ago when I went into labor on April Fools' Day, 1986. The joke was on me. For one thing, I thought I was having a girl and had a beautiful name picked out. At the time, ultrasounds were not as common. Instead, I had a boy.
I always teased Josh he played a good joke on me. I went into labor early in the morning and my older kids thought I must be playing a joke on them and was hiding out in the house somewhere. My mom had come over early to tell them I had gone to the hospital and to get them ready and off to school.
Later, when they were informed the baby was a boy, they thought that must be the joke and surely it was a girl. All around, we had a good laugh. It seemed there just had to be a joke in there somewhere and the joke was on us. Surely Josh has brought great joy and laughter to his family through the years and we are downright proud of him. And time proved the Lord's great wisdom in giving me a son, not a daughter, to travel with me, carry luggage in and out, and help navigate across the country.
2 -On another note that is not a joke, but feels like it, I have had someone hack into my hotmail account. They have taken my address and are using it to send out some questionable advertisements. I discovered it this week, when I got an email from myself advertising Viagra. So, I'm warning you if you get some goofy ads that have my email address, please know I'm NOT sending them. I'm attempting to let Hotmail know what has happened and hoping they can stop it.
I've used my email address since 1999 and don't really want to change it. So again, if you get a questionable email or ad, delete it, and let me know. If you block it, it will block my further emails as well. I'd like to track it down and hang the offenders by their toenails.
3 -I'm hoping each of you got my newsletter about putting a deposit on a grand piano. It should be shipped to the store this week and I have received about $500 more to put on it. I'm a long ways from paying for it yet. It goes into layaway until then.
Thank you for prayerfully considering giving and investing in this grand instrument of praise and worship. I have only heard from a few, so I'm nervously, eagerly and anxiously waiting to see the response for it. Let me hear from you. Don't forget to request your demo copy of the song, Morning Glory.
It would bring great joy to have it when Joshua comes home. My oldest son, Steven, who is the truck driver is planning to get a load to Seattle so he can come by for a few days. We are hoping to be able to fly out my daughter and her youngest, Joseph, age 18 mo, for a few days as well. And of course, my middle son, Scott, lives in Moses Lake.
It is possible I will have all 4 of my children with me during his leave. What fun that will be!!!! Both Steven and Anne have played piano and are so happy to hear I'm getting one. I can't think of a better initiation than to have my whole family gather around the piano while Josh is here. If you are not able to give at this time, please agree with me in prayer for miracle provision.
4 -In the days ahead, I will be sharing with you about a dietary supplement called The Feast. It is made by Uri International and is a 100% whole food product that is one source for complete nutrition. It has 30 fruits and berries, 30 greens and vegetables, 11 seeds and sprouts, 83 active enzymes and minerals, and 22 strains of probiotics... all good stuff. The company is 3 years old, but started by a man who has nearly 30 years in nutritional research and production. The green powder base he originally produced was the base of Juice Plus, Barley Green, and utilized by other nationally promoted products. His first name, Uri, is actually a Hebrew name that means light or flame.
I have just signed up to be a distributor and will be working with my friend, Brett, who lives in Moravian Falls, NC. He was the one of the top distributors for Sea Silver, before it got in trouble with the FDA and his downline crumbled. Brett has an anointing for business and networking and is one of the best.
Because of his bad experiences with Sea Silver, he has thoroughly researched Uri International and believes it is the best product and company in the country with the potential of making millions without offending the FDA. Brett has developed a website to build a business and to share his insights about the good and bad of network marketing. I would not have considered signing up except for my confidence in Brett. He is a true brother in the Lord to me and working with him will be an adventure. I would never recommend anything to you I had not researched or had utmost confidence in as a product or a potential for business.
You can go to the website: http://www.uriinternational.com/ to learn more. The cost to sign up is only $9.95 onetime and will give you 20% off the products. I've not normally been impressed with network marketing, but I do feel this is an opportune time to build a home business, get healthy, and help others get healthy all at once. Even if you're not interested in the business aspect, the product is the best I've found. And I've been all over this country and seen a lot of products out there. Just check it out. If you do sign up, please use my ID # 24169.
5 -Finally, I seem to have stuck a chord that resonated and resounded when I commented how weary I grew of whiny guitars, bang, clang, and loud noisy repetitive music in worship sessions. I do believe we need a reformation. Others are coming forward and speaking up on it and I welcome some dialogue. I do not want to minimize or belittle what some people can worship to, but for many of us, it's a distraction, abstraction, and subtraction.
I will tell you this, it is not the sound of the Holy place. You can't hop, bebop, skateboard, and pop your gum in that place. What some call worship has the spirit of worldly mixture. It sounds the same and I don't buy it that the words make it "Christian". I am troubled that the desire to appeal to young people has denied, dismissed, and dishonored the preferring of mature saints and the elderly. When elderly people who are hard of hearing complain that the music is too loud, you better believe it!! Loud speakers will not cover up the lack of anointing.
Until we yearn and burn for His Presence, we will not discover that the sweetest sound of all is a holy hush and silence before Him. What I have heard and read described of heaven's worship is melodious and angelic. Personally, I long for the days of harmonious voices that once filled the atmosphere singing in the spirit. There seemed to be no sweeter sound than the people, the voice of many waters flowing in a river of spontaneous harmony, starting and stopping by a Holy Spirit given cue. Today, in many places, the voice of the congregation is being drowned out and ignored by platform performers.
In closing, thank you so much for your love, prayers, and financial support. You are the cream in my coffee. And let me tell, you I do like lots of cream.
Love, Carla
PS: If any of your are still needing a tax statement regarding your giving in 2006, please let me know. They will be sent out gladly upon request.
